Irvine Colony Club Tennis/Pickleball Rules

This is a draft of court rule changes.

Below rules are as of 1/18/24:


Eligibility

 

1.    Irvine Colony community tennis/pickleball courts can only be used by its homeowners and their guests.  Trespassers will be prosecuted to the fullest extent permitted by law.

2.    Players must show valid picture ID with home address (such as driver’s license) upon request by other homeowners for proof of residency.  Players who failed to proof of residency must vacate the court.

3.    All homeowners may use the tennis/pickleball courts during such hours as determined by the facility committee.  Court hours are 7am-10pm daily.

4.    All homeowners are allowed to bring guests. There must be at least one homeowner participating on court.  One homeowner can only use one court, unless the other court is not being used.

 

Reservation System Account Creation

 

1.    To use the reservation system, player must submit an email request to the tennis court coordinator (tennisforce@gmail.com) to have an account created.

2.    The email must contain the following information:

 

·         Home Owner First Name and Last Name

·         Home Address

·         Phone Number

·         Email Address

 

3.    Your account will be created once your residency status is verified. The estimated turnaround time is within 2 business days. Note: only one account per resident address

4.    You will receive an email with account login information, including a temporary password. You need to change the password upon first login

 

Court Reservation and Play Time

 

1.    All court reservations must be made on https://holdmycourt.com/reserve2/index.php?dir=colonyclub.

a.    For any scheduling issues/conflicts arise or how to use HoldMyCourt.com, please contact the tennis court coordinator (currently Chung Lau, 949-229-2268 or tennisforce@gmail.com).

b.    Maximum court time reservation per homeowner is 2 hours per day and 8 hours per week.

c.    A homeowner can reserve same time slot no more than 3 days in a row.  Overlapping times are considered same time slot (e.g. 1pm to 2pm in day one and 1:30pm to 2:30pm on day two are consider same time slot).

d.    Reservation must be made at least 5 minutes prior to play time and cannot reserve more than 2 weeks in advance.

e.    Players shall forfeit the reservation if arrive later than 10 minutes.

f.     If players are unable to play for reasons other than inclement weather, such as rain, they must cancel the reservation ASAP in order to release the court to other players.  If players did not show up for their reservation, they shall also forfeit their next reservation.

2.    Open courts are on a first-come first-serve basis.

3.    Time limits (includes warm up time) is 2 hours per day per account and can be a combination of open court play and reserved court play that adds up to 2 hours. One account can only use one court at a time.

4.    Groups may not camp on a court and monopolize play amongst their group.  When others are waiting, all players and group members must vacate the court when the time limit expires. If no one is waiting, you may continue to play until others arrive.

 

Play Time Log (PTL)

  1. A printed PTL sheet is placed on the bulletin board at the tennis/pickleball court. The PTL sheet contains following columns:
    • Date
    • Start Time
    • End Time
    • Resident's Name
    • Court #
  2. Players must first check-in on the PTL sheet when they take possession of a court to play (either via reservation or open court) - only need to check-in one name per court.
  3. When done playing, players should enter the End Time in the PTL sheet. If players don't enter the End Time, it is assumed the play time is 2 hours.
  4. For players who have maxed out the daily quota or players don't check-in on the PTL sheet, they must yield the court immediately if there are players waiting to play.
  5. Your reservations are reconciled against the PTL sheet. To avoid penalties, please cancel your reservation if you are unable to play.

Additional Court Rules

 

1.    Players must wear proper tennis/pickleball attire.  Men may not be shirtless.  Shoes with black soles are not permitted on the courts.

2.    No food or drinks allowed on the courts with the exception of a plastic water bottles or non-breakable containers.

3.   NO BICYCLES - NO ROLLERBLADES - NO PETS - NO SKATEBOARDS – NO ROLLERSKATES - NO SMOKING - NO GLASS CONTAINERS - NO SCOOTERS.

4.   NON-TENNIS/PICKLEBALL ACTIVITIES ARE NOT PERMITTED ON ANY COURT AT ANY TlME.

5.   NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE ALLOWED ON ANY COURT AT ANY TlME.

6.    All court-cleaning equipment (i.e. brooms, squeegees, etc.) should be stored off of the ground and hung from the interior side of the court fence to help keep the equipment in good working condition.

7.    Damage to tennis/pickleball courts and equipments must be reported to facility committee immediately for timely repair. Damage to the tennis/pickleball courts or equipments resulting from inappropriate behavior will be the responsibility of the offender to finance repairs.

8.    Courts will remain shut and locked at all times.  Court gates are not to be propped open.  Do not leave keys in the locks.

9.    The last player using the courts is responsible for securely closing the court gates

10. Observe the rules of tennis/pickleball etiquette and good sportsmanship. Inappropriate conduct will not be tolerated and the offending player will be asked to stop participation.

11. Repeated violation of any of the above regulations will result in person(s) being brought before the Board of Directors along with the facility committee for review.

12. Children younger than 14 years of age must be supervised at all times by an adult.

13. No pets are allowed on tennis/pickleball courts.

14. Users are solely responsible and financially answerable for any damages that may occur from any and all accidents or injuries to persons or property resulting from their use of the facilities or areas.

15. Gambling in any form is prohibited on the premises.

 

Tennis/pickleball Instructors

 

1.    Tennis/pickleball instructors who are also Colony homeowners must adhere to same Court Reservation And Play Time regulations.  Their students are treated as guests.

2.    Tennis/pickleball instructors who are not Colony homeowners are allowed to give lesson to only Colony homeowners on the premises.  They are not allowed to give lesson to non-Colony homeowners on the premises.
